Horizons is a parent-led curriculum with daily instruction included in detailed teacher guides with students completing corresponding workbook activities. Lessons are designed for daily engagement, typically covering one lesson per subject each day for pacing of a typical 9-month school year.
2. Is Horizons designed for gifted learners or those who have dyslexia?
The structured, spiral approach of Horizons benefits many learners, including gifted students who thrive on advanced content and review. Horizons lessons are not specifically designed for students with dyslexia, but the early literacy curriculum follows a phonics-based format that many students respond well to. Additional resources or accommodations may be necessary to fully support students with dyslexia.
3. What is spiral learning, and how does Horizons use it?
With spiral learning, students learn a concept, then the concept is repeatedly revisited as new, related concepts or skills are introduced. Horizons incorporates this effective learning style in all subjects, but particularly within math and language arts learning. Where mastery-based learning focuses on one concept at a time until it is mastered, spiral-based learning focuses on multiple concepts that build upon one another.

Horizons is a spiral, parent-led curriculum with vibrant materials that emphasizes review and reinforcement. The curriculum is primarily for grades PreK–8, focusing on early literacy and numeracy. Horizons curriculum offerings include preschool for 3 and 4, K-8 math, K-3 phonics & reading, grades 1-3 spelling & vocabulary, grades 11-6 penmanship, K-6 health, and PreK-12 PE.
Alternatively, LIFEPAC is a mastery-based, student-paced curriculum for grades K–12, promoting independent learning with structured units. LIFEPAC curriculum includes core subjects of math, language arts, history & geography, science, and Bible as well as 20 electives.
