Homeschooling FAQs: Is AOP Curriculum Accredited?

Find a quick answer to four of the most commonly asked questions that the customer service team at Alpha Omega Publications receives about accreditation.

Q: What is accreditation?
A: Accreditation is verification by an outside agency that a school is meeting appropriate expectations and is actively pursuing excellence by improving school standards.

Q: Is AOP curriculum accredited?
A: No, only an educational institution can be accredited. Curriculum alone cannot be accredited; it can only be accredited as part of an institution’s program. In other words, because Monarch, LIFEPAC, and Horizons are not schools, they cannot be accredited.

Q: Are only physical schools accredited?
A: No, Ignite Christian Academy is a fully accredited online school that uses Alpha Omega Publications curriculum. Ignite Christian Academy is accredited by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI), a division of AdvancED, the world’s most trusted and recognized accrediting organization, representing over 36,000 schools.

Q: Does accreditation through Ignite Christian Academy help my child get into college?
A: Accreditation ensures only that students were schooled through an institution that has earned recognition for its programs, practices, and rigor. Colleges and universities are often more likely to recognize achievement from accredited schools; however, college acceptance ultimately depends on each college's admission process and how attractive a student is as a candidate, based on grades, ACT or SAT scores, and other considerations.
