Description

Monarch Vietnam Era is a semester-long, online Christian homeschool elective that examines the causes, events, and consequences of the Vietnam War and its lasting impact on American society. Students study the Cold War backdrop, political leadership, military strategy, and social unrest during the 1960s and 1970s.

The course also explores media influence, protest movements, and the war's effect on public trust and national identity. With a biblical perspective on leadership, justice, and reconciliation, students are encouraged to think critically about history and its relevance today.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is Monarch accredited and does that matter?

Monarch is a parent-managed homeschool platform and curriculum, not an accredited school. Accreditation applies to institutions, not curricula, since the accrediting body evaluates not only the curricula but also the teaching and organizational practices. However, Monarch’s comprehensive, high-quality courses help parents meet academic standards while customizing education to their child’s needs.

Because Monarch is a parent-managed homeschool platform and curriculum, not a school, parents of graduating students must provide any high school diplomas, which may be purchased on the AOP website here

Some colleges and universities require high school transcripts to be accredited, but many now also accept homeschool transcripts. If you’re looking for an accredited program that can be completed from home, explore Ignite Christian Academy by AOP.

2. What’s the difference between Monarch and Ignite Christian Academy?

Monarch is a parent-managed online learning platform and comprehensive homeschool curriculum for Christian homeschooling. It’s student-led and self-paced. Whereas, Ignite Christian Academy is a fully accredited online Christian school with certified teachers who manage instruction, grading, and support.

Monarch allows flexible course selection regardless of grade. Review the scope & sequence and course overviews to determine the best fit. Visit Monarch’s Help Center to find more information on setting your student up for success. You can assign courses above or below your student’s age level.

7. Is Monarch designed for gifted learners or those who have dyslexia?

Monarch supports all learners with its flexible, customizable structure and tools like "reader" and "highlighting" and can be helpful to students with learning differences. The self-paced nature of the curriculum also provides opportunities for all learners to thrive, including gifted learners.
