Description

A/V Technology and Film Careers is an elective that gives students in grades 9-12 an overview of the film industry. Throughout the semester, students explore the history of film, discover technology and techniques used in production, and examine the steps involved in pre and post-production. The elective also introduces students to a variety of careers available within the film industry. Before the semester ends, students experience what it's like to produce their own (simple) independent film. Access to a video camera is not required; however, access to free video editing software is beneficial.

Monarch curriculum uses mastery learning techniques to promote independent cognitive reasoning and train your child to use math in real-life situations. Fully compatible with Windows® or Macintosh® systems, this Bible-based, fully-online Monarch homeschool program also has appealing curriculum tools. Assignment screens show both homeschoolers and parents daily assignments, due dates, and grades. Approximately 85% of a homeschooler's work is graded automatically. Real-time content updates automatically to keep the AOP curriculum current and the secure data storage keeps a homeschooler's academic record for seven years.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is Monarch accredited?

With Monarch online curriculum, recordkeeping is quick and painless! As your student completes coursework, Monarch automatically records the information. From the reports section of the parent dashboard, report cards, grade reports, and daily work reports can easily be generated as often as necessary. These records can be used for your state, other schools, and college admissions if required.

Homeschooling is legal in all 50 states. You can familiarize yourself with the homeschooling laws in your state with this helpful reference from HSLDA.

Accreditation is verification by an outside agency that a school is meeting appropriate expectations and is actively pursuing excellence by improving school standards. Because Monarch is not a school, it cannot be accredited. If you’re seeking accreditation, consider Ignite Christian Academy, the official online school of AOP.

2. What are my payment options and what’s included?

Your purchase may include our Monarch Full Access or single course subscriptions. See our course catalog for more details.

3. How do I add or remove student access throughout the school year?

Join a live demo or watch videos on how to add or remove student access.

Using the parent onboarding in the Monarch parent dashboard Resource Center is a great way to follow tool tips to help you step by step.

4. Can my student complete their Monarch assignments on a tablet or mobile device?

While a tablet or phone might work for some of the content, we strongly recommend against it. The best experience is on a desktop or laptop computer.

5. I’ve subscribed to Monarch on a free trial and there are no courses assigned to my student when I log in to my parent dashboard. How do I fix this?

Monarch Full Access users need to assign courses from each course in the course catalog to their students for those courses to appear in the parent dashboard. Once each course is assigned per student, go to your Monarch dashboard to set up your school year for those course selections.

We recommend using our LIFEPAC independent study placement tests to explore the topics your child is most appropriately placed per subject. From there, you are encouraged to read the scope and sequence for your choice on the product page to confirm your grade selected is the best match.

Placement tests are provided for 1st through 8th grade as well as 7th through 12th grade. Instructions for scoring and evaluation of test results are provided in the answer key pages. Your child should be able to complete the tests for this Christian homeschool curriculum on their own as long as they understands the activity directions.
