Instill a love of reading and practice phonics skills with the LIFEPAC® 1st Grade Reading Basics Set, a set of five readers. A requirement of the LIFEPAC® 1st Grade Language Arts curriculum, each reader includes a compilation of short stories. A study guide with comprehension questions for the entire series is also included. The readers use a progression of words from 1- and 2-syllable words with basic long and short vowel sounds to more advanced multi-syllable words with more complex phonetic structures. Since these flexible readers are based on basic phonics rules and principles, they can be used in conjunction with any systematic phonics program. The set of five readers are fun and engaging and include high-frequency words sight words, which are listed at the beginning of each story. Drilling of these sight words is recommended for increased fluency.
